Terms of Service

Last updated: [date]

These terms are an agreement between you and [Afterword legal entity] ("Afterword", "we", "us") for the use of afterwordai.com and the Afterword app (the "Service"). If you use the Service for a church or other organization, you agree to these terms for that organization and confirm you're authorized to do so. In these terms, "you" means you and that organization.

1. What Afterword does

Afterword turns a sermon doc and a sermon video (a YouTube link or an uploaded file) into content for your church: screen slides and lower thirds, carousels and captions, YouTube copy, a thumbnail, short videos ("reels"), a podcast episode, Google Business Profile posts and Google Ads search ads. If you connect your accounts, Afterword can publish that content for you. What each plan includes is listed on the pricing page.

2. Your account

  • You must be at least 18 and give accurate information.
  • Keep your sign-in details safe. You're responsible for what happens under your account, including what people with seats on your account do.
  • One free trial per church.

3. Free trial and automatic renewal

Try a Sunday free is a 7-day free trial. A payment card is required to start it.

  • When the trial ends, your subscription starts automatically. Unless you cancel before the 7 days are up, your card is charged the price of the plan you picked when you started the trial [confirm the default plan if none is picked], and again at the start of every billing period (monthly, or yearly for Pro billed annually) until you cancel.
  • How to cancel. Cancel any time from your account in the app [exact path, e.g. Settings › Plan › Cancel] or by emailing support@afterwordai.com. Cancelling during the trial means you are not charged. Cancelling a paid plan stops the next renewal; [your plan stays active until the end of the period you've paid for; payments already made are not refunded, except where the law requires].
  • Before you start, we show the plan, its price, how often you'll be charged, and how to cancel. [Recommended: email a reminder before the trial ends.]
  • Prices are listed on the pricing page and don't include taxes, which are added where required.

4. Founders pricing and price changes

  • A church that subscribes, or starts its free trial, by February 28, 2027 keeps founders prices for as long as it stays subscribed.
  • Changing plans moves you to the founders price of the new plan. If you cancel and subscribe again later, standard prices apply.
  • Otherwise we may change prices with at least [30] days' notice by email. The new price applies from your next billing period after the notice.
  • Add-ons (extra reels, sermons, seats or companion credits) are charged only when you tap to buy and confirm.

5. Your content

You keep ownership of what you upload or link: sermon docs, videos, photos, logos, fonts, backgrounds and anything else ("Your Content"). You give us permission to store, copy, process and transform Your Content only as needed to run the Service for you, including sending it to the service providers named in our Privacy Policy.

You confirm you have the rights to Your Content and to let us use it this way. That includes music played in your service video: worship songs licensed for your service or stream may not be licensed for social media or podcasts, and clearing them is your responsibility.

6. What Afterword makes for you

As between you and us, you own the outputs Afterword makes from Your Content (slides, graphics, copy, videos, audio). We give you a license to use any Afterword design elements included in them (for example the design styles and their layouts) as part of those outputs. Fonts are used under their own open licenses.

7. AI-generated content

  • Afterword uses artificial intelligence, including Anthropic's Claude for writing and ElevenLabs for music and voice, to make outputs. AI can make mistakes: a misquoted verse, a wrong time, a caption that misses what was meant.
  • You are responsible for reviewing outputs before you publish them. The storyboard, the before-and-after cards and the approval before posting exist so you can.
  • Voiced pieces are synthetic voices. Don't use the Service to imitate a real person's voice or to mislead people about who is speaking.
  • Outputs for different churches may be similar. We don't promise any result, such as views, followers or attendance.
  • The AI companion uses credits. Credits renew on the 1st of each month, don't roll over and have no cash value.

8. Posting on your behalf

  • When you connect an account (a posting service such as Upload-Post or Metricool and, through it, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok or YouTube; a podcast host; Google Business Profile; Google Ads), you authorize Afterword to publish to that account the content you approve or schedule, on your behalf.
  • Afterword publishes only what you approved or scheduled. You can disconnect an account at any time; scheduled posts that haven't gone out are then cancelled [confirm].
  • For Google Ads, Afterword changes only the ads in the ad group you choose. It never changes budgets, bids or targeting. Ad spend is billed to you by Google.
  • You're responsible for what's published to your accounts and for following each platform's rules. We aren't responsible for a platform's outages, rejections, limits or actions on your account.

9. Acceptable use

Don't use the Service to break the law, infringe others' rights, publish hateful, harassing or deceptive content, upload malware, try to get around plan limits or the one-trial rule, or interfere with the Service or other customers.

10. Other services

The Service works with services we don't control: payment processing (Stripe), the posting service you connect, social networks, podcast hosts and Google. Their own terms apply to your use of them.

11. Data retention

The Privacy Policy explains what we keep and for how long. In short: source videos are deleted [30] days after processing; your outputs stay available while you're subscribed and are deleted [30] days after your subscription ends [confirm]. Download anything you want to keep before then.

12. Ending the agreement

You can stop using the Service and cancel at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, don't pay, or if we stop offering the Service, with notice where reasonable [and a refund of prepaid unused time if we end the Service for reasons that aren't your fault].

13. Disclaimers and liability

The Service is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we disclaim implied warranties, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the [12] months before the claim. We're not liable for indirect or consequential losses. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you. [Indemnity clause: lawyer to draft.]

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change matters, we'll tell you by email or in the app at least [30] days before it takes effect.

15. Law and contact

These terms are governed by the laws of [state], United States. Questions: support@afterwordai.com, [postal address].
