Privacy Policy

Last updated: [date]

This policy explains what [Afterword legal entity] ("Afterword", "we") collects when you use afterwordai.com and the Afterword app, what we do with it, who we share it with and how long we keep it. Questions: support@afterwordai.com.

What we collect

  • Account details: your name, email address, your church's name, and the people you add as seats.
  • Billing details: your plan and payment history. Card payments are handled by Stripe; we don't store full card numbers. To keep the free trial to one per church, we keep a card fingerprint from Stripe, your email domain and your YouTube channel.
  • What you give Afterword to work with: sermon docs, video links and uploaded videos, photos (such as the pastor's photo for the thumbnail), logos, fonts and backgrounds.
  • What Afterword makes: the slides, graphics, copy, reels, audio and posts made for you, and your edits and approvals.
  • Connected accounts: the keys or sign-in tokens for accounts you connect (a posting service, podcast host, Google Business Profile, Google Ads, and on Pro your own Claude or ElevenLabs keys). They're stored encrypted, separately for each church.
  • Usage and logs: what jobs ran, when, and how much AI and compute they used, for billing, quotas, support and security.
  • The founders list: before Afterword opens, if you join the list on this website, your email address and anything else you add (your name, church, role and the plan you're looking at). We use it only to tell you when Afterword opens and about founders pricing. Ask us to remove you any time.
  • This website: we use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts visits without cookies and without tracking you across sites.

How we use it

  • To make your church's outputs and publish what you approve.
  • To run your account: billing, the free trial, plan limits and support.
  • To keep the Service secure and prevent abuse.
  • To improve the Service, using usage measures rather than the content of your sermons.

We don't sell your personal information, we don't use it for advertising, and we don't train AI models on your content.

Who we share it with

Service providers that process data for us, only as needed to run the Service:

  • Anthropic (Claude): writes the copy, finds the reel moments and plans the podcast episode from your sermon doc and transcript.
  • ElevenLabs: composes music beds and voices podcast pieces.
  • Stripe: payments.
  • Cloudflare: hosting this website and its analytics.
  • [Cloud hosting and storage provider for the app], [email provider].

When you approve a post, its content goes to the accounts you connected: your posting service (Upload-Post or Metricool) and through it Instagram, Facebook, TikTok or YouTube; your podcast host; Google. Their privacy policies apply once it's there. We may also share information if the law requires it, or with a buyer if Afterword is sold, under this policy's protections.

Google user data

If you connect Google Business Profile or Google Ads, Afterword uses that access only to publish the posts and search ads you approve, in the listing and ad group you choose. Afterword's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

How long we keep it

  • Source videos and their audio: deleted [30] days after processing.
  • Sermon docs and everything Afterword made: kept while you're subscribed, so you can edit, re-render and download; deleted [30] days after your subscription ends.
  • Connected account credentials: deleted when you disconnect the account or close your Afterword account.
  • Billing records: kept as long as tax and accounting law requires [e.g. 7 years].
  • Logs and backups: kept up to [90] days.

Your choices and rights

  • Download what Afterword made for you at any time while you're subscribed.
  • Disconnect any connected account at any time.
  • Ask us to see, correct, export or delete your personal information: email support@afterwordai.com. We'll answer within [30] days. Depending on where you live (for example California or the European Union) you may have further rights, and we'll honor them.

Children and people in your videos

Afterword is for churches and the adults who run their communications, not for children under 13. Your service videos may show members of your congregation, including children. You're responsible for having the permissions your church needs to publish them.

Security

Credentials for connected accounts are encrypted and kept separately for each church, and access to customer data is limited to what running the Service needs. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your information, we'll tell you as the law requires.

Where data is processed

Afterword is run from the United States, and our service providers may process data in other countries. [Transfer safeguards, if serving the EU or UK.]

Changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll tell you by email or in the app before the change takes effect.
